What we are building

TutorStack is a B2B SaaS for tutoring businesses and agencies, streamlining the admin of lessons, tutors, students and payments into one platform. We currently have three large tutoring businesses operating on the platform, and we’re looking to grow quickly.

We’re building the business around an AI operating system: AI supports how we work, how we build and how tutoring businesses get more done. Within the platform, we’re using AI to increase productivity and reduce the admin that gets in the way of running a tutoring business.

Our story

Hamish graduated in physics from the University of Nottingham this year. Henry is a current medical student at Nottingham who started a tutoring agency and grew rapidly throughout his undergraduate degree.

We first started TutorStack in February this year to streamline the operations of Henry’s tutoring company. What began as solving a problem close to home has become a platform for other tutoring businesses, and we’re excited to take it much further.

Where you come in

We use AI engineering tools such as Codex and Claude Code to build the system. Development is fast-paced: we try ideas, ship improvements and iterate quickly.

You’ll be working in a substantial, existing production codebase. We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable finding their way around, understanding how the pieces fit together and shipping improvements quickly. You’ll bring technical judgement to fast AI-led development, making good architectural decisions and understanding what AI-generated changes actually do.

You could be a computer science student, or someone with practical experience who loves building. You’ll have a good eye for modern, fast and secure software, strong UI/UX skills and a feel for interfaces that are clear, polished and easy to use. Curiosity, technical judgement and care for the user experience matter to us.

Our tech stack

We build with TypeScript, Next.js and React, using Tailwind CSS and Radix UI for the interface and Supabase with PostgreSQL for data and authentication. Stripe handles payments, Resend powers email, PostHog provides product analytics and Sentry helps us monitor errors. We use Vitest and Playwright for testing. Codex and Claude Code are central to how we develop.

You don’t need to know every tool already, but you should be keen to learn and comfortable working across the stack.

The opportunity

Join us as a technical co-founder, with equity and a leading role in the product and engineering direction of the business. This is a hands-on opportunity to help build a growing startup and take ownership of its technology.

Equity percentage and terms will be agreed together before joining. We’re looking for an initial one-year commitment, with regular time each week to build, collaborate and deliver. Exact hours and arrangements around studies are very flexible and will be agreed together. The role is completely remote.
